Mothers with Attitude

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how snotty I was to my mom when I was in my twenties, and how much she wanted me to do the things she wanted me to do not because she wanted me to do them but because I wanted to do them. The reason I’m thinking about this, of course, is that I am now the parent of twentysomethings, and man, it’s been like thirty years and they still haven’t gotten that technology going where you can work your will on a young person and have them think it was their idea? You see this sort of thing in superhero and supernatural TV shows and movies all the dang time. Can we order that somewhere? Seriously? Please? Because I so very much see the point of it now. My mom is no longer with us, but I’m pretty sure she’s looking down at me from heaven and laughing and laughing and laughing.
